On certain aerial devices and digger derricks, the cable step wire ropes that secure the entry step could fail. As a result, the cable could detach and cause a person to fall. Note: This recall only affects certain aerial devices and digger derricks equipped with cable entry steps.
A step that detaches could create a risk of injury.
To reduce the safety risk, Altec advises that you should check that the cable entry step(s) are properly secured until the recall repairs have been completed. Altec will notify owners by mail and advise you to contact Altec Service to inspect and, if necessary, replace the entry step(s).
On certain aerial devices, voltage spikes in the power distribution module could damage the transfer case control module. As a result, the system could detect the wrong driving mode selection. This could cause poor handling and/or reduced braking, and lead to a loss of control.
A loss of control could create the risk of a crash. Additionally, reduced braking can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash.
To reduce the safety risk, Altec recommends not to use the vehicle until the recall repairs are completed if any 4x4 warning messages are turned on. Altec will notify owners by mail and advise you to contact Altec Service to add a diode to the ignition power circuit.
On certain aerial devices, the fuel lines may not have been secured properly and could become damaged. As a result, fuel could leak.
A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire.
To reduce the safety risk, Altec recommends that you periodically inspect the fuel lines for leaks until the recall repairs are completed. Altec Industries will notify owners by mail and provide instructions for inspecting for loose fuel lines. A repair kit will be provided to secure the fuel lines, if necessary. If the lines are damaged, they will be repaired.
On certain aerial devices, the front axle capacity may be too low. As a result, the vehicle could be overloaded. This could cause poor handling and lead to a loss of control. Note: This recall only affects certain Ford E350 van chassis with gross axle weight rating (GAWR) of 1837 kg (4050 lb.) or 1905 kg (4200 lb.).

Altec Industries will notify owners by mail and advise you to contact a Ford dealership or an authorized service facility to install upgraded front coil springs and hardware. Additionally, Altec Industries will provide you with a new compliance label with updated information.
