Certain motorcycles with dealer installed accessory turn signals may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CVMSS) 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. The size of the lens on the accessory turn signals may be too small, and therefore would not meet the requirements of the standard. This could reduce vehicle conspicuity to following and approaching road users, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the accessory turn signals with factory indicators that meet the requirements of the standard.

On certain motorcycles, the rear wheel bearing could wear abnormally, which would cause play in the rear wheel assembly. This could be noticed though an abnormal noise or harshness during riding. In some cases, rear wheel speed could be reduced at low speeds while coasting (when clutch is depressed), potentially affecting vehicle handling and increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect rear wheel bearings and replace with an updated design if necessary.

On certain motorcycles, it is possible for the coating to separate from the inside face of the steering damper housing. If this happens, the coating could partially clog the oil bores within the damper. Should this occur, the steering damper could become stiff, making it difficult to steer, and therefore could result in a vehicle crash causing personal injuries or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the steering damper.

On certain motorcycles, the fuel tank breather hose may have been installed incorrectly, causing it to be pinched between the frame and other neighboring components. In high ambient temperatures, the pressure inside the fuel tank could build-up, resulting in the bulging of the tank near the rear tire. Severe suspension compression, with a high payload, can cause the bottom of the tank to rub against the rear wheel, potentially resulting in a fuel leak. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire. Also, the rear wheel could lose traction as a result of fuel spillage, which could cause a vehicle crash with personal injuries or death. Correction: Dealers will reroute the fuel breather.

On certain motorcycles, the spark plugs may have been damaged during vehicle assembly. The insulator on the spark plug could break off and come into contact with the electrode, which could impede engine performance. If the electrode breaks in the course of a lengthy trip with high engine loads, the symptoms may not be immediately perceptible. However, engine damage can result if the rider attempts to continue the journey. Engine damage could result in lost propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the rider's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will replace the spark plugs.
