2023 Ford Bronco Recall

On certain vehicles, the engine wiring harness may not have enough protection and could become damaged by contact with surrounding components. As a result, the wiring harness could short circuit.

A short circuit can create the risk of a fire.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to install additional protection on the engine wiring harness. The dealer will also repair or replace the engine wiring harness, as necessary.

On certain vehicles, the fender flare(s) may not be properly attached. As a result, the fender flare(s) could loosen and separate from the vehicle. Note: This recall only affects Bronco Raptor models.

A fender flare that detaches from the vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and repair or replace the fender flares, as necessary.

On certain vehicles, the transmission may not have been reassembled properly after service. As a result, the transmission output shaft splines and/or the transfer case input splines could wear and fail. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels, or the vehicle could move when it's parked and the parking brake isn't used.

A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A parked vehicle that rolls away could create the risk of an injury or a crash.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the transmission and transfer case.

Under certain conditions, the infotainment system could overheat. As a result, the rearview camera image may not display when the transmission is shifted into reverse.

A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the APIM software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a Ford dealership.

On certain vehicles, the engine block heater could leak coolant. If this happens, the block heater could short circuit when it's plugged in. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2025-554. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall don't require this repair.

Alternatively, owners can choose to have the dealership permanently disable the engine block heater.

On certain vehicles, the pivot bolts in the height adjuster assembly for the front seats may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the bolt(s) could loosen and detach. If this happens, the seat(s) could move in a crash.

A seat that moves in a crash could increase the risk of injury.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the height-adjust link(s) and pivot bolts.

A child safety lock that doesn't work properly could allow a child to open a rear door while the vehicle is moving and create a risk of injury.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the rear door latch(es).

On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to display or to freeze when the transmission is shifted into reverse.

A rearview camera image that doesn't display correctly could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the SYNC software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a Ford dealership.

On certain vehicles equipped with a 360-degree camera, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the SYNC display screen. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the vehicle is reversing. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2023-477. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall don't require this repair.

A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the rearview camera, and modify the camera wire retention as necessary. Some Transit models will also require a software update.

On certain vehicles, the mounting flange between the external reservoirs and the rear shock absorbers may corrode and fail. If this happens, the external reservoir(s) could detach from the vehicle. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with Bilstein shock absorbers.

An external reservoir that detaches from the vehicle could create a hazard for other road users and increase the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the rear shock absorbers. The dealer will apply an anti-corrosion sealant and install a shield, or replace the shock absorbers, as necessary.

On certain vehicles, the left-rear quarter glass may not be properly attached. As a result, the glass could become loose and separate from the vehicle. Note: This recall only affects Bronco Heritage edition models equipped with a hard top. This recall is an expansion of Transport Canada recall no. 2024-123.

A glass panel that detaches from a moving vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to remove and reinstall the left-rear quarter glass panel.

On certain vehicles, the child safety lock on the left-rear door may not work properly. As a result, the door could be opened from the inside of the vehicle when the safety lock is in the "ON" position.

A child safety lock that doesn't work properly could allow a child to open a rear door while the vehicle is moving and create a risk of injury.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the rear door latch(es).

On certain vehicles, the left and right-rear quarter glass may not be properly attached. As a result, the glass could become loose and separate from the vehicle. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a hard top.

A glass panel that detaches from a moving vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to remove and reinstall the rear quarter glass panel(s).

On certain vehicles, the tire and loading information label lists the wrong maximum weight of occupants and cargo. Specifically, for Bronco and Super Duty models, the cargo capacity (payload) may have been calculated incorrectly. For the Ranger models, the weight of vehicle options may have been entered incorrectly. As a result, the vehicle could be overloaded. Canadian regulations require companies to print the maximum weight of occupants and cargo on the tire and loading information label.

Incorrect information about the vehicle's weight capacity could lead to overloading and increase the risk of a crash.

Ford will mail a new tire and loading information label to each owner. If you would like help to install it, you can contact a Ford dealer to have it installed free of charge.

On certain vehicles, there may not be enough space between the side of the seat and the interior trim to reach the latch plate for the front seat belt. As a result, it may be difficult to use the seat belts. Note: This recall only affects 5-door models.

Not wearing a seat belt can increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to bring your vehicle to a dealership to install a sliding clip on each front seat belt. This clip will help to reposition the seat belt latch plate. The dealer will also provide an owner's manual update with instructions for how to use the sliding clip correctly.

On certain vehicles, the wheel lug nuts may not have been properly tightened on the left-side of the vehicle. As a result, the lug nuts could loosen or fall off. If this happens, a wheel could separate from the vehicle.

A wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. A wheel that separates could also hit another person or vehicle.

Ford advises not to drive your vehicle until the wheel lug nuts have been inspected and tightened properly. Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to contact a local dealer to arrange for this inspection. The dealer will replace any damaged lug nuts, wheel studs and wheels, as necessary.

On certain vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, there could be a loose bolt inside the transmission. As a result, the bolt could move and block the parking pawl. If this happens, the parking pawl may not engage when you shift to park, and the vehicle could roll away if the parking brake isn't used. Note: You should always follow the parking procedure in the owner's manual and set the parking brake each time that you park.

A parked vehicle that moves unexpectedly could create a risk of a crash or an injury.

Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to bring your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the transmission.
