2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty Recall

Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause part of the rearview camera image to be blocked. Canadian regulations require the full rearview image to display while the transmission is in reverse gear. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with an 8-inch display and 360-degree cameras.

A rearview camera image that is not fully displayed could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the APIM software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a Ford dealership.

On certain trucks, the windshield wiper arms may not have been manufactured correctly. As a result, the wiper arm(s) could break or become detached and may not wipe the windshield properly.

Windshield wipers that do not work properly could affect a driver's visibility. Windshield wiper(s) that detach from the vehicle could create a road hazard for others. Both issues could increase the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

On certain vehicles, a software problem with the integrated trailer module (ITRM) may cause the trailer lights not to work when towing. This problem could also cause the trailer brakes not to work on certain vehicles. Note: This problem would cause a "Trailer brake module fault" message to be displayed and turn signal telltale to flash rapidly. This recall also affects certain Super Duty incomplete vehicles.

Trailer lights that don't work could make the vehicle less visible and cause following drivers not to recognize that the vehicle is braking or intends to turn or change lanes. These issues could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a loss of trailer brakes could increase the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the ITRM software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a Ford dealership.

On certain vehicles, the low-pressure fuel pump could fail. If this happens, the engine may run rough or may not start and the check engine light may turn on. This could also result in a sudden loss of engine power while driving.

A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the powertrain control module software. For Super Duty models, the dealer will replace the fuel pump.

On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to display or to freeze when the transmission is shifted into reverse.

A rearview camera image that doesn't display correctly could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.

On a small number of trucks, the recall repairs completed by a Ford dealer during recall 23S37 (Transport Canada recall no. 2023-406) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second repair is required. Under certain conditions, the driver and/or passenger window automatic reversal system may not detect an obstruction when the window is closing. If this happens, the window(s) may not automatically stop and reverse when there's something blocking the window.

A window that doesn't stop and reverse could pinch a person and create a risk of injury.

Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause the wrong rearview camera image to display while reversing. As a result, the hitch or trailer view image may display instead of the default rearview image. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when reversing. Note: This recall only affects trucks equipped with the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist feature.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to update the advanced drive assistance system module software.

On certain trucks, water could leak into the connector for the tailgate top camera. Over time, this could cause the tailgate park assist sensor interface module (TPASIM) to corrode. If this happens, the rearview camera image may not display correctly or at all. Note: This problem could cause a "Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable" message to display in the instrument panel.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the tailgate top camera, wiring harness and TPASIM. The dealer will also update the image processing module software.

On certain trucks, the wiring in the steering wheel clockspring could become disconnected. This would cause the airbag warning lamp to turn on, and the driver-front airbag would not inflate in a crash. The problem may also cause the horn or other steering wheel-mounted controls not to work properly.

An airbag that doesn't work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the clockspring.

On certain trucks, the left-rear axle shaft may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the axle shaft could break and cause a loss of power to the wheels. Additionally, if the truck is parked and the parking brake isn't applied, the truck could roll away. Note: This recall only affects single rear wheel trucks with 10.5-inch rear axle.

A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A parked vehicle that rolls away could also create the risk of an injury or a crash.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to inspect the left-rear axle shaft, and replace it as necessary.

On certain vehicles, the owner's manual doesn't include instructions for how to remove or adjust the head restraint for the centre seating positions. Canadian regulations require this information be included in the owner's manual.

Missing instructions for how to remove or adjust head restraints could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Ford will notify owners by mail and provide you with an owner's manual insert with instructions for how to remove and adjust the centre seat head restraints.

On certain vehicles, the tire and loading information label lists the wrong maximum weight of occupants and cargo. Specifically, for Bronco and Super Duty models, the cargo capacity (payload) may have been calculated incorrectly. For the Ranger models, the weight of vehicle options may have been entered incorrectly. As a result, the vehicle could be overloaded. Canadian regulations require companies to print the maximum weight of occupants and cargo on the tire and loading information label.

Incorrect information about the vehicle's weight capacity could lead to overloading and increase the risk of a crash.
