2024 Ford Maverick Recall

On certain vehicles, the front lower ball joint(s) may not have been installed correctly on the steering knuckle(s). As a result, the front lower ball joint(s) could separate and cause a loss of steering control.

A loss of steering control could create a risk of a crash.

To reduce the safety risk Ford advises you not to drive your vehicle until the recall repairs are completed. Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to contact a dealer to arrange for an inspection. The dealer will repair the front steering knuckle(s), as necessary.

On certain vehicles, a software problem with the integrated trailer module (ITRM) may cause the trailer lights not to work when towing. This problem could also cause the trailer brakes not to work on certain vehicles. Note: This problem would cause a "Trailer brake module fault" message to be displayed and turn signal telltale to flash rapidly. This recall also affects certain Super Duty incomplete vehicles.

Trailer lights that don't work could make the vehicle less visible and cause following drivers not to recognize that the vehicle is braking or intends to turn or change lanes. These issues could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a loss of trailer brakes could increase the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the ITRM software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a Ford dealership.

On certain vehicles, the engine block heater could leak coolant. If this happens, the block heater could short circuit when it's plugged in. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2025-554. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall don't require this repair.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the block heater. Alternatively, owners can choose to have the dealership permanently disable the engine block heater.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the SYNC software.

On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by a Ford dealer during recall 24S33 (Transport Canada recall no. 2024-270) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second repair is required. On certain hybrid vehicles, a software update completed by a Ford dealer could cause the transmission to shift into neutral (N) unexpectedly. If this happens, there could be a sudden loss of power to the wheels.

A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the hybrid powertrain control module software.

On certain trucks, the recall repairs completed by a Ford dealer during recall 24S27 (Transport Canada recall no. 2024-246) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second repair is required. On certain trucks, a software problem could cause the tail lamps to turn off while driving.

Driving without tail lamps in low light conditions could make the vehicle less visible and increase the risk of a crash.

On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to display or to freeze when the vehicle is reversing. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2024-524.

On a small number of vehicles, the second-row seat upper tether anchorages used for installing a child car seat may not be properly secured . As a result, the child seat tether strap could detach in a crash.

A child seat that is not properly secured could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

This could lead to poor handling and/or a tire failure. Note: This recall only affects certain trucks with the XLT trim level, FX4 package, and 4k trailer tow package.

Poor handling or a tire failure could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.

Ford will mail a new tire and loading information label to each owner. If you would like help to install it, you can contact a Ford dealer to have it installed free of charge.

On certain trucks, the turn signal telltale may flash at the same speed when a turn signal bulb fails. As a result, you may not notice when a turn signal bulb is not working. Canadian regulations require a change in the turn signal flash rate when a bulb fails.

A turn signal telltale that doesn't work properly could cause you to be unaware when a turn signal bulb fails. Additionally, turn signals that do not work may cause a person not to recognize when a driver intends to turn or change lanes. This could increase the risk of a crash.
