On certain RV trailers, the quick disconnect fittings for the propane (LP) gas system may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the fittings could crack and leak propane. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2022-246. Trailers that were repaired under that recall also require this repair.
A propane gas leak could create the risk of a fire or explosion.
Grand Design will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your RV trailer to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the quick disconnect fittings on the propane system. The dealer will also perform a leak test.
Certain RV trailers were equipped with safety chains that are not strong enough. As a result, if the trailer becomes uncoupled from the tow vehicle, the safety chains could break. This could allow the trailer to detach from the tow vehicle.
A trailer that separates from the tow vehicle could create the risk of a crash.
Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your trailer to a dealership to replace the safety chains with stronger ones.
On certain RV trailers, the fabric for the patio awning may not be properly attached. As a result, the awning could detach and fall from the trailer.
An awning that falls from the trailer could create a risk of injury. An awning that falls from a moving vehicle could create road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.
Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealership to inspect the fabric roll on the awning. It will be repaired or replaced, as necessary.
