On certain RV trailers, a power wire behind the refrigerator may be secured incorrectly. Over time, the wire could move and contact the refrigerator cooling unit. This could damage the wire and cause electrical arcing.
Electrical arcing could create the risk of a fire.
Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealer to inspect the 110-V wire in the refrigerator cavity. The wire will be replaced or secured, as necessary.
On certain fifth wheel and travel trailers, electrical connectors located below the floor may not have been properly secured. As a result, a connector could fall to the bottom of the under-floor area. If this happens, and water enters the area, there could be a short circuit.
A short circuit could increase the risk of fire.
Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealer for an inspection of the Molex connectors located in the underbelly of the trailer. If the connectors are not properly secured, they will be bundled and secured to the underside of the floor or a frame cross member.
Certain travel trailers may not comply with Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations. The certification label may not contain the correct Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR). The label incorrectly indicates a GAWR of 7000 lbs (3175 kg), while it should instead show the GAWR as 6400 lbs (2903kg). This could lead to premature tire failure and vehicle overloading, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Grand Design RV will send a revised certification label to current owners with instructions for proper placement. If owners are not comfortable installing the label themselves, they can take the label to a Grand Design RV dealer for installation.

Certain travel trailers outfitted with MB Sturgis propane regulators may have been assembled with an improper crimp of the retaining cap for the regulator diaphragm. The regulator sight glass could degrade, potentially causing a crack, which could result in a slow leak of propane gas. Propane gas in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire and/or an explosion causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the propane regulator and associated hoses.
