On certain vehicles, the automatic slack adjuster anchor brackets can fail due to fatigue fracture and completely separate, causing the slack adjusters to function as manual slack adjusters. If the support bracket for an automatic slack adjuster fails, the brakes at that wheel end will not automatically adjust. As the brake linings wear, the vehicle will have reduced braking capacity, increasing the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will install a new bracket on each suspect slack adjuster.

On certain vehicles, the front hubs may have less than an infinite fatigue life if used with a thin brake drum. If a wheel hub experiences fatigue failure the result could be complete wheel separation from the vehicle. This could in turn cause loss of vehicle control and a crash without prior warning. Correction: Both front wheel hubs will be replaced on affected vehicles.

MIS-MATCHED PARTS WERE ASSEMBLED ON SOME SIX SPOKE WHEEL ASSEMBLIES WHICH COULD CAUSE HIGH STRESSES IN THE WHEEL STUDS AND POTENTIAL WHEEL STUD FAILURES. THIS COULD RESULT IN WHEEL SEPARATION AND A POSSIBLE ACCIDENT WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. CORRECTION: CORRECT PARTS COMBINATIONS WILL BE IMPLEMENTED AND OPERATOR INSTRUCTIONS AND VISUAL AIDS WILL BE UPDATED.

NOTE: VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH NEWAY ANCHORLOK REAR SUSPENSIONS. THE SUSPENSION EQUALIZING BEAM COULD HAVE DEFECTIVE SUSPENSION SHAFTS WHICH COULD FRACTURE INSIDE THE BEAM AND WORK LOOSE FROM THE BEAM. SHOULD THE SHAFT SEPARATE FROM THE BEAM, THE SUSPENSION AIR BAG WOULD DROP TO THE ROADWAY. SHOULD THIS HAPPEN, IT WOULD AFFECT VEHICLE STABILITY AND CONTROL WHICH COULD POSE A HAZARD TO OTHER USERS OF THE ROADWAY AND ADJACENT PROPERTY. CORRECTION: ALL EQUALIZING BEAMS WITH NON-CONFORMING SHAFTS WILL BE REPLACED.

THE DRIVELINES MAY HAVE LOW TORQUE OR NO TORQUE ON THE DRIVELINE NUT RETAINING THE YOKE AT THE CENTER BEARING OR BEARINGS. THIS COULD CAUSE THE DRIVELINE TO SEPARATE AND RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE FROM PARTS BEING THROWN FROM THE VEHICLE OR SCATTERED ON THE ROADWAY. CORRECTION: YOKE NUT WILL BE RETORQUED ON AFFECTED VEHICLES.

NOTE: VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH PRO SLEEPERS WITH UPPER BUNK. THE PLASTIC BUCKLE ENDS ON THE UPPER BUNK RESTRAINING STRAPS MAY FAIL IN SERVICE. THIS COULD ALLOW THE BUNK TO FALL TO THE OPEN POSITION WITHOUT WARNING. SHOULD THIS HAPPEN WITH SOMEONE SITTING IN THE LOWER BUNK, THAT PERSON COULD SUFFER INJURY FROM BEING STRUCK BY THE FALLING BUNK. CORRECTION: DEALERS WILL MODIFY THE ATTACHMENT OF UPPER BUNK RESTRAINING STRAP TO THE UPPER BUNK AND REAR WALL OF THE SLEEPER AND INSTALL A NEW REDESIGNED BUNK RESTRAINING STRAP.
