2021 Jeep Wrangler Recall

On certain vehicles, the connection for the electric hydraulic power steering pump (EHPSP) could become loose. If this happens, the EHPSP connection could overheat and melt.

Wiring that overheats and melts can create a fire risk, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off.

To reduce the safety risk, FCA recommends that you should park your vehicle outside and away from other vehicles or buildings until the recall repairs are completed. FCA Canada will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the EHPSP and the wiring.

On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by an FCA dealer during recall 95B (Transport Canada recall no. 2024-566) may not be effective. As a result, another repair is required. On certain vehicles, there could be a problem inside the high-voltage battery that can cause a fire, even while parked with the ignition off. Note: This recall only affects 4xe plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models. This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2024-566.

On certain Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), there could be a problem inside the high-voltage battery that can cause a fire, even while parked with the ignition off.

A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash.

FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the high-pressure fuel pump. Additional fuel system parts may be replaced, if necessary.

The frame on certain vehicles may have been built with an extra and unused mounting stud near the fuel tank. As a result, the stud could contact the fuel tank in a crash and create a fuel leak. Note: This recall only affects two-door models.

A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire.

FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, remove the stud.

Under certain conditions, the clutch pressure plate could overheat and break. If this happens, the pressure plate may also crack or break the transmission case. This could cause debris to fall from the vehicle. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a 3.6 L engine and a manual transmission. Vehicles repaired under FCA Canada recalls Y01, Y03 and Y07 (Transport Canada recall 2021-035) also require this repair.

Debris from an overheated and fractured pressure plate could contact nearby parts and increase the risk of a fire. Parts that fall from the vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of injury.

FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and advise you to tale your vehicle to a dealership to replace the clutch assembly. The dealer will also inspect and, if necessary, update the instrument panel cluster and powertrain control module software.

On certain Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), a problem with the vehicle control software could cause the engine to shut down while driving. If this happens, there would be a loss of power to the wheels.

A sudden loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash.

FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the vehicle control software.

On certain vehicles, there may be a problem with the driver and front passenger seat belt pretensioners. As a result, the seat belt pretensioners may not work properly in a crash.

A seat belt pretensioner that does not work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

FCA Canada will contact owners by mail and instruct you to bring your vehicle to a dealership to replace the driver and front passenger seat belt pretensioners.

On certain vehicles equipped with a 3.0 L diesel engine, the high-pressure fuel pump could fail. If you shift to reverse while the computer is resetting, the rearview camera image will not appear on the display. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear.

A rearview camera image that is slow to appear could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.

FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the radio software.

On certain vehicles, the odometer may not display properly after reaching 21,472 km. This error could lead you not to know how far the vehicle has travelled. As a result, an owner could miss or delay important vehicle maintenance. Note: Only the Wrangler 4xe model is affected by this recall.

Missed or delayed vehicle maintenance could lead to a part failure and increase the risk of a crash.

FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to bring your vehicle to a dealer to inspect, and if necessary, update the instrument panel cluster software. If your vehicle has over 21,472 km, and the odometer does not display, the instrument panel cluster will be replaced.

On certain vehicles, the daytime running lamps (DRLs) will remain on when the driver switches the front fog lamps on. A recent change to Canadian regulations requires the DRLs to turn off when the fog lights are switched on.

Daytime running lamps that stay on in foggy conditions could cause glare and reduced visibility. This could increase the risk of a crash.

FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to reprogram the body control module.

In certain circumstances, the clutch pressure plate could overheat and break. If this happens, the pressure plate may also crack or break the transmission case. This could cause debris to fall from the vehicle. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a 3.6 L engine and a manual transmission.
