2020 Keystone Cougar Recall

On certain Cougar 29FKD travel trailers, the tires could contact an outrigger while driving. This could damage the tire and cause a tire failure.

A tire failure could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.

Keystone will notify owners by mail and instruct you to bring your travel trailer to a dealership to modify the outrigger to improve tire clearance. The dealer will add an additional outrigger between the two tires (over the center spring hanger) and inspect the tires for damage. To reduce the safety risk, Keystone recommends that you should unload all cargo and empty the holding tanks (fresh water, grey water, black water, and water heater) and take your trailer to a dealership for repair.

On certain RV trailers, the propane (LP) regulator could fail. If this happens, high-pressure propane could reach the appliances. Note: This recall only affects trailers equipped with a Winntec model 6020 propane regulator.

Unregulated propane pressure can create the risk of an appliance fire.

Keystone will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your travel trailer to a dealer to replace the propane (LP) regulator.

On certain RV trailers, the frame rail could bend or break. If this happens, there could be a sudden change in vehicle handling.

A sudden change in vehicle handling could increase the risk of a crash.

Keystone RV will contact owners by mail and instruct you to bring your RV trailer to a dealer to add cross-braces and an outrigger to support the frame.

On certain travel trailers, the power inverter may have been wired incorrectly. As a result, the shore power cord may be back-fed with electricity when the inverter is turned on.

A power cord that is back-fed with electricity could create a risk of electrocution.

Keystone will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to test the function of the inverter. Dealers will rewire the inverter, as needed. Keystone recommends that if the inverter is turned on and any circuits other than the "Off The Grid Inverter Outlet" circuit is powered on, to turn off the inverter and have it inspected.

On certain fifth-wheel trailers, the upper part of the TV antenna could detach from the trailer.

An antenna that detaches from the trailer could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.

Keystone RV will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealer to replace the TV antenna.

On certain travel trailers, the interior cooktop burner could be affected by the operation of the furnace. This could potentially cause the burner flame to invert.

An inverted burner flame could create the risk of a burn injury or cause a fire.

Keystone will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealer to inspect the operation of the interior range cooktop with the furnace running. Any units affected by this problem will be repaired. To minimize the safety risk, Keystone recommends that the furnace and the range cook top should not be used at the same time before the recall repairs have been completed.

On certain RV trailers, the wiring for the Solar Prep system may not be properly connected to a circuit breaker. As a result, there may be no protection against an electrical overload or short circuit.

An electrical overload or short circuit on an unprotected circuit could create an increased risk of a fire.

The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their trailer to a dealer to inspect the wiring for the Solar Prep system. If it is not connected correctly to a circuit breaker, the wiring will be modified.
