2022 Mercedes-Benz Eqs Sedan Recall

On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the electric drive system to shut down unexpectedly while driving. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels.

A sudden loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash.

Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the electric drivetrain software.

On certain vehicles, a software problem for the electronic stability control system (ESP) could cause the antilock brake system (ABS), acceleration slip regulation (ASR) and electronic brake force distribution (EBD) to malfunction. Also, the speedometer could display 0 km/h while the vehicle is moving. Note: This problem would cause various warnings to display on the instrument cluster.

An electronic stability control system that doesn't work properly could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, driving a vehicle without a speedometer could increase the risk of a crash.

Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

On certain vehicles, the battery management system (BMS) may not warn the driver if there is a problem with the monitoring system for the high-voltage battery.

A battery monitoring system that doesn't warn of a problem with a high-voltage battery could create a risk of injury.

Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the battery management system software.

On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the central display. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear.

A rearview camera image that does not display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.

Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the MBUX multimedia system software.

On certain vehicles, the recovery eye (tow hook) may not screw into the front or rear bumper properly. As a result, the recovery eye could come loose when a vehicle is being loaded or transported.

A towing eye that comes loose during loading or transport could create an increased risk of crash and/or injury.

Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect, and if necessary, repair the recovery points in the front and rear bumpers.

On certain vehicles, the DISTRONIC driver assistance system might not detect when the driver removes their hands from the steering wheel. If the driver has a medical emergency (and is unable to drive or loses consciousness), the active emergency stop assist and emergency call functions would not activate. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a heated leather steering wheel.

If the active emergency stop and emergency call features do not work in an emergency situation, there could be an increased risk of a crash, and there could be a delay in response from emergency services.

Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the software for the hand detection system.

On certain vehicles equipped with the emergency calling (eCall) system, there may be a software problem with the communications module. As a result, the emergency call feature may not work properly when there is a crash or when the SOS button is pressed.

If the emergency call system does not work in an emergency situation, there could be a delay in response from emergency services.

Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to each vehicle. If the update cannot be completed successfully, you will be notified to schedule an appointment to have the update performed by a dealer.
