Also, if a person tries to forcefully open the right-rear door while the child safety lock is activated, the door lock could become damaged. If this happens, passengers may not be able to open the door from inside the vehicle. Note: This recall is an expansion of Transport Canada recall no. 2021-285.

On certain vehicles, the symbol on the rear door that indicates the child safety lock setting is incorrect. This could cause a person to set the child safety lock incorrectly. As a result, a child may be able to open a rear door from the inside of the vehicle. Alternatively, it may not be possible for a person to open the rear doors from the inside even if the doors are unlocked.
If the child safety lock is not set correctly, a child may be able to open a rear door while with the vehicle is moving. Alternatively, the wrong setting could delay exiting the vehicle in an emergency. Both of these issues could increase the risk of injury.
