Certain motorhomes built on a Freightliner chassis could have a problem with the rear-mounted Power Distribution Module (PDM). This could cause the tail lights not to work properly. Note: This recall replaces FL-856 (Transport Canada recall 2020-336). Motorhomes that were repaired under that recall also require this repair.
Brake lights or turn signals that do not work could cause a following driver not to recognize that a vehicle ahead is braking or intends to turn. This could increase the risk of a crash.
Newmar will notify owners by mail and instruct you to contact a Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) authorized service facility to schedule a repair. The service facility will install a new wiring harness bypass.

On certain motorhomes, there may be a loose electrical connection to the automatic transfer switch (ATS) that was not properly tightened. If the power connection is loose, it could result in a build up of heat at the connection, which could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the electrical connections and perform repairs as necessary.

On certain motorhomes built on a Freightliner Chassis, if the headlight high beams are activated, only the high beam bulbs illuminate. The intention of the high beam function on the affected coaches is to have both the high beam and low beam bulbs illuminate together. Not having the required illumination of the road could reduce the driver’s visibility, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facilities will repair as necessary to ensure the low beam bulb will turn on along with the high beam bulb.

On certain motorhomes, the ball joints on the independent front suspension may be loose. Over time, if not detected, the loose ball joints could separate, which could affect vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Spartan service centers will remove, clean, apply thread locker, reinstall and torque the ball joints as necessary.

On certain motorhomes, wires in the throttle circuit were not shielded properly during manufacturing. This could result in a throttle setting above or below the commanded throttle setting/input. An incorrect setting for the throttle input could result in a loss of throttle or inadvertent acceleration of the throttle which, depending on the driver's reactions and traffic conditions, could increase the risk of a crash and/or property damage. Correction: An authorized Spartan Service Center will supply and install an overlay harness with the wires shielded to the proper specification.

On certain motorhomes, the controller for the HWH hydraulic entry steps may not function as designed. This could allow for the entry steps to retract unexpectedly, in some circumstances with the entry door open. If the controller for the steps is not operating as intended, it may increase the risk of an accident and/or injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect the steps and correct the controller with a software update as necessary.

On certain motorhomes, a defect in the power steering pump could result in an intermittent loss of power steering assist without warning. This would unexpectedly increase the steering effort force necessary to steer the vehicle, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the power steering pump.

On certain motorhomes, the front facia wood trim could separate from the slide out. If this occurs, the slide out could come in contact with the driver or passenger which could cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will secure the fascia trim to the slide out.
