On certain buses, the exhaust elbow may have been incorrectly welded during the assembly process. As a result, an exhaust leak could develop, possibly causing heat damage to surrounding components, including wiring for the tail lamps. A loss of tail lamp function will make the vehicle less visible to other road users past daylight hours. Should the vehicle continue to be operated with an exhaust leak, a vehicle fire could result. Correction: Dealers will replace the exhaust elbow.

On certain buses equipped with Detroit Diesel series 50 engines, the turbocharger can fail, allowing lubricating oil to enter the exhaust system. This can result in an engine compartment fire, possibly resulting in personal injuries. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the Electronic Control Module (ECM) to enable the exhaust temperature sensor.

On certain buses, the two-piece connecting rods used as an element of the door actuation linkage may be subject to fatigue failure. If a crack is initiated and propagates through the cross section of the connecting rod, it may result in bending of the connecting rod assembly and malfunction of the door actuation mechanism. If the connecting rod breaks, the door panel may be able to move freely in an uncontrolled manner, leaving the passengers unprotected by the door. Correction: Dealers will replace the connecting rod.

On certain transit buses, the tie rod assembly clamps could fracture as a result of inadequate manufacturing process. If both clamps were to fail and the cross tube start to unscrew, significant vehicle misalignment would evolve with the potential for the tie rod ends to separate from the cross tube, resulting in loss of steering control. Correction: Dealers will replace both tie rod assembly clamps.

On certain buses equipped with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) or Diesel engines, the hydraulic cooling fan motor pipes can leak. A hydraulic leak which is not attended to readily may continue to provide exposed oil in the engine compartment. Correction: Dealers will replace the hydraulic pipes with flexible hoses.

On certain vehicles, the locking toggle, if insufficiently tightened, could loosen and allow the battery tray to slide out from the stored position. This would make an obstacle protruding from the side of the bus, which could result in personal injury to bystanders. Correction: Dealers will install a tethered locking pin to retain the tray from sliding.

On certain vehicles, the bolts attaching the rear axle to the walking beam could break due to misaligned spacers. If this were to happen, the walking beam could move upward to the point of contacting the frame and the tire rubbing the wheel well. Partial rear wheel axle alignment would be lost. Correction: Dealers will replace the spacers.
