On certain Ranger XP Kinetic side-by-sides, a part inside the high-voltage charging system could crack. As a result, water could enter the high-voltage charging system harness and cause a short circuit.
A short circuit can create the risk of a fire.
To reduce the safety risk, Polaris will provide you with precautions to take until the recall repairs are completed. Polaris will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your side-by-side to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the charging harness. The dealer will also install a cover to help prevent water from entering the charging system.
On certain Ranger XP Kinetic side-by-sides, the high-voltage cable(s) on the motor controller unit may not have been secured properly. As a result, the cable(s) could be loose and overheat. If this happens, the cables could melt and cause a short circuit and/or electrical arcing (sparks). Additionally, the vehicle may accelerate on its own.
A short circuit and/or electrical arcing can create the risk of a fire or injury. A vehicle that accelerates on its own could create the risk of a crash.
To reduce the safety risk, Polaris advises you not to use your side-by-side until the recall repairs are completed. Polaris will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your side-by-side to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, repair and damage to the motor controller unit.
