THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH MAY NOT BE PROPERLY ADJUSTED, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH BECOMING BENT. A BENT SECONDARY HOOD LATCH CAN LEAD TO A CONDITION WHERE FULL PRIMARY LATCH ENGAGEMENT IS NOT ATTAINED RESULTING IN THE POSSIBILITY OF HOOD FLY-UP WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. CORRECTION: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PRIMARY HOOD LATCH, THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH AND THE LATCH SUPPORT BRACKET.

DOOR HINGE PINS MAY BREAK ON THESE VEHICLES THEREBY REDUCING THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY IN AN ACCIDENT. HINGE FAILURE COULD ALSO RESULT IN A DOOR OPENING WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. CORRECTION: DOOR HINGES WILL BE REPLACED ON AFFECTED VEHICLES.

A BENT SECONDARY LATCH COULD CONTACT THE PRIMARY LATCH RETURN SPRING PREDISPOSING IT TO DISENGAGE. IF THE SECONDARY LATCH WAS NOT PROPERLY ENGAGED AND THE PRIMARY LATCH WERE TO DISENGAGE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, THE HOOD COULD UNEXPECTEDLY FLY OPEN AND OBSTRUCT THE DRIVER'S VISION. THIS COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. CORRECTION: SECONDARY LATCH WILL BE INSPECTED FOR PROPER ADJUSTMENT AND ALL BENT LATCHES WILL BE REPLACED.

VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITH A HOOD LATCH SKID PLATE NOT PROPERLY WELDED TO THE HOOD LATCH SUPPORT ASSEMBLY. HOOD CLOSURES MAY FRACTURE THE SKID PLATE WELDS RENDERING THE SKID PLATE NONFUNCTIONAL AND DISABLING THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH. HOOD FLY-UP COULD RESULT IF THE PRIMARY HOOD LATCH WERE TO FAIL. CORRECTION: VEHICLES WILL BE INSPECTED AND SCREWS INSTALLED IN THE SKID PLATE IF REQUIRED.

THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH MAY CONTACT THE SUPPORT BRACKET WHICH COULD PREVENT PROPER ENGAGEMENT OF THE SECONDARY LATCH. ADDITIONALLY, THE SECONDARY LATCH CAN CONTACT THE PRIMARY LATCH RETURN SPRING PREDISPOSING IT TO DISENGAGE. CORRECTION: DEALER WILL INSTALL SKID PLATES ON ALL MODELS AND THE BERETTA MODELS WILL HAVE THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH REPLACED. NOTE: AT THE TIME OF THE RECALL INVOLVED VEHICLES WERE IN TRANSIT TO SPECIAL FLEETS AND WERE NOT OFFERED FOR SALE TO THE PUBLIC.
