On certain motorcycles, the regulator/rectifier assembly may have been produced with insufficient adhesion between the power module (circuit board) and the rectifier case. Due to this insufficient adhesion, heat generated on the power module circuit board can cause the circuit board to deform. This could cause excessive heat on the circuit board and uncontrolled electric current output, which can result in insufficient charging current being provided to the vehicle's battery. Battery discharge could lead to engine stalling and/or a no-start condition. Lost propulsion, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the rider's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the regulator/rectifier assembly. Note: This recall may be superseded by recall 2016-022 for certain models. On certain motorcycles equipped with Suzuki Accessory Sidebags, the rear side reflex reflectors do not comply with Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. This could render the vehicle less visible to other motorists during hours of darkness, possibly resulting in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will install additional rear side reflex reflectors on the sidebags and, if necessary, relocate the existing reflectors.
