On certain motorhomes equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. Certain refrigerators used in Recreational Vehicles (RVs) contain either a sensing algorithm or a thermal switch to interrupt power when it detects high temperatures that could lead to a fire. An insufficient response time can result in the power not being shut-off in sufficient time to prevent a fire, which could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will install a thermocouple with a faster response time for all refrigerators with a sensing algorithm or a thermal switch.

On certain motorhomes, the internal rubber check valve inside the Bendix SR-7 spring brake modulating valve can become deformed over time. The effect of this defect is intermittent and presents a potential delay or failure in applying the parking brakes; potentially resulting in a vehicle roll away. Should this occur, the unattended roll away vehicle could strike a bystander or cause property damage. Correction: Dealers will install a check valve repair kit.

On certain vehicles, the steering gear may have been assembled with an incorrect recirculating ball spacer which could allow the recirculating balls to escape from the ball circuit, resulting in a loss of steering. The operator may notice higher required steering wheel inputs, or the need for more steering wheel adjustments while driving in a straight line in combination with metallic cracking noises prior to a loss of steering. Loss of steering control could result in a vehicle crash causing injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the steering gear assembly.

On certain motorhomes, the seat belt assemblies fail to meet the strength requirements of CMVSS 209. In the event of a crash, the buckle could release leaving the seat occupant un-restrained, possibly resulting in serious injury or death. Correction: AM-Safe Commercial Products will replace the seat belt buckles.

On certain motorhomes containing a 50 Amp transfer switch built by Intellitec, the material used for the wire lugs was changed from nickel plated to copper lugs. The copper lugs are softer than the nickel plated and do not retain the torque of the screw that clamps the wire connector. When the torque is relaxed, the lugs can become loose, resulting in excessive heat within the connected wire that could result in a fire. Correction: Dealers will replace the changeover box.

On certain motorhomes, the burner tubes in the Wesbasto water heater may begin deteriorating at an accelerated rate and could fail. Burner tube failure could result in an increase in exhaust gas temperature which could ignite combustible material in or around the vehicle. Correction: Dealers will replace the burner tubes.
