On certain motorhomes equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. Loss of windshield wiping capability, should it occur during a rainy/snowy day, may compromise the driver’s ability to see the road and its users, which could result in a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. On certain motorhomes equipped with Lippert Components Inc. electric entry steps, an internal bolt on the steps that attaches the fan gear assembly to the steps could fracture. This results in the fan gear disengaging from the steps, which could cause the steps to stop in an unexpected position and appear to be loose or unstable. If the steps become unstable, it could cause a person to fall, resulting in injury. Correction: Dealers will install a step retainer bracket to reinforce the operating mechanism, and all bolts of the mechanism will also be replaced.

On certain vehicles, the clearance lights may not have been adequately sealed at time of manufacture, allowing water ingress. This could cause an electrical short, potentially resulting in a fire, and cause the lights to fail, decreasing vehicle conspicuity. These issues could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the affected lights and install an inline fuse.

On certain motorhomes, the bracket which secures the power steering gear to the chassis may develop cracks. This could allow the steering gear to partially detach from the chassis, which could result in a loss of steering control and a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, as necessary, replace the steering gear mounting bracket, or install a support bracket.

On certain vehicles equipped with Cummins EPA 2010 ISL engines, insufficient shielding is installed between the exhaust pipe and the floor. If the exhaust pipe were to fail, the escaping gases could make the floor area above the engine extremely hot, increasing the risk of personal injury or possibly resulting in a fire. Correction: Dealers will install a heat shield.

Certain motorhomes equipped with a Spartan chassis may experience an unintended increase in vehicle speed after the cruise control is set. Then, if the brake is applied and released, cruise control function may resume and the vehicle speed may continue to increase. An unexpected moderate increase in vehicle speed may go unnoticed by the driver and, depending on traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Owners are advised to contact Spartan Motor Chassis, Inc. at 800-393-8861, to locate an authorized repair facility. The remedy consists of replacing the cruise control switch and reprogramming the control module.

On certain motorhomes, the adjustable brake pedal arm may loosen, rotate around its shaft, and swing in front of the accelerator pedal. Should the brake pedal arm contact and engage the accelerator pedal, it could result in extended stopping distances and a vehicle crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will install a C-clamp assembly to the brake pedal arm.

Certain refrigerators used in Recreational Vehicles (RVs) contain either a sensing algorithm or a thermal switch to interrupt power when it detects high temperatures that could lead to a fire. An insufficient response time can result in the power not being shut-off in sufficient time to prevent a fire, which could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will install a thermocouple with a faster response time for all refrigerators with a sensing algorithm or a thermal switch.

On certain vehicles equipped with an adjustable brake pedal assembly, a drive pin that is below specification may become disengaged from the brake arm, causing separation or loosening of the pedal from the remainder of the assembly. If the drive pin becomes disengaged from the brake pedal assembly it could result in a loss of vehicle braking function and/or cause the brake pedal to interfere with the throttle pedal. Either condition could result in a vehicle crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will install a secondary pin retention system.
