On certain Volvo 740, 760 and 940, the seatbelts for the auxiliary seat are designed to be routed under a diagonal cross brace during fastening. The labeling which instructs the user in the proper routing is inadequate. As a result, the belt may be routed over the brace, and this may make it possible for the belt to be inadvertently released. Correcton: Proper instructional labels will be installed on seats. In addition, new buckle assemblies will be installed.

Separation can cause damage to the gear selector and loss of power to the rear wheels which could lead to diminished vehicle control under certain circumstances. Correction: Driveshaft flange bolts and nuts will be replaced and the joint between the driveshaft and transmission will be modified.

On certain Volvo 740 and 760 equipped with air conditioning, the engine wiring harness might chafe against an air conditioning pipe which could cause a short circuit and malfunctioning of the electrical system. This could cause charring of the insulation and result in a possible engine compartment fire. Correction: Wiring harness will be relocated and secured by a new bracket and clamp.
