Vehicles located in the high corrosion provinces east of the Manitoba/Ontario border. Certain vehicles may exhibit a condition in which the frame/cradle retainer bolts pull through the retainers due to corrosion of the retainer. If both front bolts or both rear bolts pull through, the frame/cradle would not be properly supported and the intermediate steering shaft may separate from the steering gear. If this were to occur while the vehicle was in motion, a vehicle crash could result without prior warning. Correction: Dealers will replace the front and rear frame/cradle bolts and retainers. Note: This recall superceedes TC recall 1995-010.

On certain vehicles located in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island, extreme levels of moisture and salt can result in corrosion at or near the engine cradle mounts resulting in possible failure of the mounts. If failures occur at both rear mounts or both front mounts, movement of the cradle can cause separation of the steering intermediate shaft resulting in loss of steering control. Correction: Dealers will install reinforcement plates on repairable cradles, non repairable cradles will be replaced.

If this should occur, the cradle would no longer be supported at these mounting locations and the steering shaft may separate from the steering gear. This could result in loss of steering control. VEHICLES WITH 3800 ENGINES MAY HAVE FUEL FEED HOSES WHICH MAY PULL OUT OF THE CRIMPED COUPLING AT THE ENGINE END OF THE HOSE ASSEMBLY. IF THIS COUPLING WERE TO SEPARATE, FUEL COULD SPILL ONTO HOT ENGINE COMPONENTS AND POSSIBLY CAUSE AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. CORRECTION: A NEW FUEL FEED HOSE WILL BE INSTALLED ON AFFECTED VEHICLES.

Certain vehicles do not comply with CMVSS 208 - Seatbelt Installations. Front door shoulder belt guide loops may not provide front seat occupants with proper protection in the event of a crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect the front door shoulder belt guide loops for possible cracks. If a cracked guide loop is found, both front door guide loops will have reinforcing plates installed.

On certain vehicles, the front shoulder seat belt webbing may separate at the seat belt upper guide loops (driver and/or passenger side). Separation of the webbing would occur without prior warning and could increase the risk of injury to belted front outboard occupants in the event of a crash. Correction: Dealers will install a controlled rotation bracket on both the driver and passenger side front seat shoulder belt guide loops to prevent this condition from occuring.
