On certain vehicles, the intermediate steering shaft may become loose at the steering shaft to steering gear coupling. With this looseness the yoke pinch bolt can wear on the splines of the shaft until there is no longer an interference between the splines and the bolt. This could cause the steering shaft to separate from the steering gear resulting in a total loss of steering control. Correction: Dealers will retorque the yoke pinch bolts.

On certain P30 vehicles, the front left brake pipe may contact a power steering hose. This could cause the brake pipe to wear through resulting in loss of front braking. If this were to occur while the vehicle was in motion, a crash could occur without prior warning. Correction: dealers will install a new brake pipe with sufficient clearance to prevent contact.

On certain P3-42 chassis, the 19.5 X 6 front steel wheel discs may exhibit circumferential cracking which if undetected could cause the rim portion of the wheel to separate inboard resulting in a possible vehicle crash. Correction: All wheels (including spare wheel if one exists) will be replaced with newly designed wheels.

Certain P30 vehicles with a right-hand and left-hand fill fuel tank may have been shipped to body builders with damaged fill and/or vent opening caps on the right-hand side. If a left-hand fill system was installed on the tank by the body builder and there was a damaged right-hand cap, the fuel tank system would not be sealed. Thus, the automatic shutoff system utilized by gas stations would not work, which would allow gasoline to be forced out of the right-hand opening. If an ignition source were present, a fire could result. Correction: Dealer will inspect for a left-hand fill system and install new caps on the unused right-hand fill and vent openings.

On certain P30 vehicles, the automatic apply transmission mounted parking brake lower pivot bolt may be loose. If the brake is manually applied, the parking brake can suddenly release. If the pivot bolt falls out and the brake is automatically applied, it is possible the amount of braking may be insufficient to hold the vehicle on an incline. Either condition can result in a vehicle roll away and result in an accident. correction: The pivot bolt will be torqued to specification.
