Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. On certain vehicles, incorrect spindle nuts may have been installed during vehicle assembly. This could cause incorrect end play, cone spin, excessive heat, degradation of lubrication, wear of the spindle nut and bearing journal, oil contamination with metal shavings, and premature bearing failure. Continued operation could lead to wheel separation, which could result in a vehicle crash. As well, this situation creates the risk that nearby bystanders or motorists be struck by a wayward wheel assembly. Either of these concerns could cause property damage, personal injury, or death. Correction: Dealers will affect repairs.

On certain vehicles, the internal rubber check valve inside the Bendix SR-7 spring brake modulating valve can become deformed over time. The effect of this defect is intermittent and presents a potential delay or failure in applying the parking brakes; potentially resulting in a vehicle roll away. Should this occur, the unattended roll away vehicle could strike a bystander or cause property damage. Correction: Dealers will install a check valve repair kit.

On certain trucks equipped with 8,000 pound front axles, the front spindle nut may be over-tightened causing preload on the front wheel bearings which may lead to premature bearing wear. If allowed to progress, the front wheel assembly may separate from the vehicle which could result in a crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect the front wheel bearing adjustment and correct as required.

Certain vehicles equipped with an Air Management Unit (AMU) in the control systems for the suspension dump valves, drive axle differential lock, fifth wheel slide locks and engine brakes. An incorrect spring in the AMU solenoid double check valve may not allow the valve to release under certain conditions which could affect vehicle control and handling characteristics. Correction: Dealers will replace the solenoid valve in the AMU assembly.

On certain vehicles, the tapered joint that attaches the shifter to the transmission may separate making it difficult to put the transmission into gear. The driver may not be able to engage a transmission gear, which would eliminate engine braking and disable the vehicle from moving under its own power. Correction: Dealer will re-secure the shift lever to the transmission.

On certain vehicles, fatigue cracks can initiate in the weld joining the bracket pin to its mounting flange on the fifth wheel assembly. Weld failures could lead to the loss of the pin and the potential separation of the fifth wheel top plate from its mounting structure without warning. Correction: Dealers will replace the bracket pins.
