On certain school buses, the microswitch which controls the stop arm position can malfunction intermittently in operating conditions below 0 degrees Celsius, possibly causing the stop arm to open or close to an improper position or not open at all. This could lead to a vehicle passing a stopped school bus and possibly striking pedestrians. Vehicles that include a stop arm switch heater may not have the heater wire connected, which can result in the same failure mode. Correction: Dealers will inspect and replace the microswitch plate subassembly and connect the heater wire if not already connected.
A failure of this component (electrical) may increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Authorized dealerships will inspect the vehicle and complete all necessary repairs free of charge (parts and labor).
Certain school buses do not comply with the requirements of CMVSS 222. The backrest of the seat equipped with a child seat anchorage system cannot withstand forces applied during the Standard's rear static load test. Correction: Dealers will reinforce the seat.
A failure of this component (seats and restraints) may increase the risk of a crash or injury.

On certain MBII commercial buses built on Ford chassis and equipped with Sure-Loc wheelchair securement systems, the sprocket teeth of the wheelchair tie-down retractor assembly may be out of alignment causing the load pawl not to fully seat in the sprocket teeth. If this were to happen, the wheelchair might not be secured during a crash, which could result in injury to its occupant. Correction: Sure-Lok will send a letter notifying owners of this defect and instructions to properly inspect retractor operation. Sure-Lok will replace defective retractor assemblies.
