On certain K1500, Astro, Safari and Suburban vehicles, corrosion of the composite front brake rotors could cause separation of the stamped steel centre section from the cast outer rotor resulting in complete loss of braking capability for the affected wheel and a partial loss of front braking. This would increase stopping distances and could result in a crash without prior warning. Correction: Dealers will replace both front brake rotors with rotors having a corrosion protective coating.

The front and rear brakes will continue to function but the brake warning indicator light will not inform the driver of the rear wheel antilock failure.(non-compliance With CMVSS 105 - hydraulic brake systems). Correction: electrical malfunction will be corrected by installing a jumper wire harness between the transmission connection and the engine wire harness.

Certain vehicles were built with incorrect front shock absorber upper and lower nuts. Free spinning nuts were installed instead of prevailing torque nuts. The free spinning nuts may loosen and eventual shock absorber detachment at the upper mount will occur. Upper end of detached shock absorber could detach brake hose or cause brake hose to wear through. This could cause loss of the front brake system. Correction: Free spinning nuts will be replaced with prevailing torque nuts

When this occurs, vibrations can cause the cable to readjust by itself resulting in erratic cruise control operation or the throttle not returning to idle. Correction: A clamp will be installed around the lock tab of the cruise cable on all affected vehicles.
