On certain vehicles, the automatic slack adjuster anchor brackets can fail due to fatigue fracture and completely separate, causing the slack adjusters to function as manual slack adjusters. If the support bracket for an automatic slack adjuster fails, the brakes at that wheel end will not automatically adjust. As the brake linings wear, the vehicle will have reduced braking capacity, increasing the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will install a new bracket on each suspect slack adjuster.

On certain vehicles, the front hubs may have less than an infinite fatigue life if used with a thin brake drum. If a wheel hub experiences fatigue failure the result could be complete wheel separation from the vehicle. This could in turn cause loss of vehicle control and a crash without prior warning. Correction: Both front wheel hubs will be replaced on affected vehicles.

Certain vehicles may have experienced loosening of the end yoke retaining nut. If this condition occurs, the driveline can vibrate and separate from the vehicle, causing vehicle damage or personal injury or both. Correction: Center bearing package and coupler shaft will be replaced with a new coupler shaft and a 60mm center bearing package.

NOTE: VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH PROSLEEPER. A MICRO RELAY LOCATED BEHIND THE HVAC CONTROL PANEL IN THE BUNK OF THE PROSLEEPER MODELS CAN CORRODE IN THE PRESENCE OF MOISTURE, WHICH COULD CAUSE A SHORT CIRCUIT BETWEEN CONTACTS ON THE RELAY. THIS COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE FIRE. CORRECTION: RELAY WILL BE REPLACED WITH A SEALED RELAY.

NOTE: VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH CATERPILLAR C10 AND C12 ENGINES. A P-CLAMP AND BRACKET REQUIRED TO SUPPORT THE COMPRESSOR DISCHARGE LINE WAS NOT INSTALLED AT THE REAR OF THE ENGINE ON THESE VEHICLES. A FAILED COMPRESSOR DISCHARGE LINE COULD DEPLETE THE AIR SYSTEM AND COULD CAUSE THE PARKING BRAKES TO APPLY. THIS COULD RESULT IN THE VEHICLE SLOWING DOWN OR STOPPING UNEXPECTEDLY. CORRECTION: P-CLAMP AND BRACKET WILL BE INSTALLED AT THE REAR OF THE ENGINE ON AFFECTED VEHICLES.

THE WIRING FROM THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT MAY HAVE BEEN CONNECTED TO THE WRONG WHEEL SENSOR. SHOULD THE ABS WIRING BE CROSSED, IT WOULD RESULT IN A SIGNIFICANT DEGRADATION IN BRAKE STABILITY. A SIGNAL WOULD BE SENT TO THE WRONG BRAKE CHAMBER WHEN A BRAKE IMBALANCE IS DETECTED. THIS COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. CORRECTION: THE ABS WIRING WILL BE INSPECTED AND PROPERLY CONNECTED AS REQUIRED.

MIS-MATCHED PARTS WERE ASSEMBLED ON SOME SIX SPOKE WHEEL ASSEMBLIES WHICH COULD CAUSE HIGH STRESSES IN THE WHEEL STUDS AND POTENTIAL WHEEL STUD FAILURES. THIS COULD RESULT IN WHEEL SEPARATION AND A POSSIBLE ACCIDENT WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. CORRECTION: CORRECT PARTS COMBINATIONS WILL BE IMPLEMENTED AND OPERATOR INSTRUCTIONS AND VISUAL AIDS WILL BE UPDATED.

THE REAR AXLE PINION MAY CRACK AND EVENTUALLY BREAK AT THE PINION THREAD LOCATION. THIS COULD CAUSE SEPARATION OF THE THREADED END OF THE PINION RESULTING IN SUBSEQUENT SEPARATION OF THE YOKE AND DRIVE LINE FROM THE REAR AXLE. A SEPARATED YOKE AND DRIVE LINE COULD POSE A HAZARD TO OTHER USERS OF THE ROADWAY AND ALSO AFFECT VEHICLE STABILITY AND CONTROL. THIS COULD RESULT IN A CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. CORRECTION: REAR AXLE CARRIER PINION ASSEMBLY WILL BE REPLACED ON AFFECTED VEHICLES.

THIS COULD RESULT IN SEPARATION OF THE WHEEL ASSEMBLY FROM THE AXLE HOUSING. A DISENGAGED WHEEL ASSEMBLY COULD POSE A HAZARD TO OTHER USERS OF THE ROADWAY AND ADJACENT PROPERTY. THIS CONDITION WOULD ALSO AFFECT VEHICLE STABILITY AND CONTROL AND COULD CAUSE A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. CORRECTION: ANTILOK WHEEL NUTS WILL BE REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH STANDARD WHEEL NUTS AND LOCK RING.
