2023 Kia Telluride Recall

On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by a Kia dealer during service campaign RC207 (Transport Canada recall number 2024-323) may not have been done correctly and/or may not be effective. As a result, another repair is required. Under certain conditions, the switch for the driver- and/or passenger-front power seat motor(s) could become stuck and cause the seat motor(s) not to stop. If this happens, the motor(s) could overheat. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2024-323. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair.

A seat motor that overheats can create a fire risk, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off.

To reduce the safety risk, Kia advises that you should park your vehicle outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed. Kia will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to install an electronic fuse for the power seats.

On certain vehicles, the exterior trim piece below the window on each door may not be properly attached. As a result, the face plate could loosen from the exterior trim pieces and separate from the vehicle.

Parts that detach from the vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.

Kia will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the exterior trim piece below the window on each door.

On certain vehicles, the compliance label may be missing information in French. The words listed on the label for "Tires", "Rims", "Front" and "Rear" appear in English only, when they should be listed as "Tires/Pneus", "Rims/Jantes", "Front/Avant" and "Rear/Arriere". Canadian regulations require this information to be listed on the label in both English and French.

These small errors do not affect vehicle safety.

This is not a recall. Kia has corrected the compliance label for all new vehicles.

On certain vehicles, the axle shaft(s) may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the axle shaft(s) splines could become damaged. If this happens, the vehicle could move when it's parked and the parking brake isn't applied.

A parked vehicle that moves suddenly could create the risk of an injury or a crash.

Kia will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the electronic parking brake software. To reduce the safety risk, Kia recommends that you should always use the parking brake when you park.

On certain vehicles, the instrument cluster screen could remain blank when the vehicle is started. If this happens, you may not be able to see certain information about the vehicle, including the odometer, warnings, and malfunction tell-tale graphics.

Warnings and malfunction tell-tale information that doesn't display could increase the risk of a crash.

Kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the instrument cluster software.

On certain vehicles, the wiring for the side airbags in the second-row seat cushion assembly may be too long. As a result, the wiring could be damaged by contact with the seat frame when the seat is folded or adjusted. If this happens, the second-row seat side airbag(s) may not work properly in a side-impact crash. Note: A damaged wiring harness can cause the airbag warning light to turn on.

An airbag that does not work properly could create an increased risk of injury in a crash.

Kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the left and right second-row seat side airbag wire harnesses for damage. If damage is found, the wiring harness(es) will be replaced. If no damage is found, the wire harness(es) will be secured to avoid contact with the seat frame when the seat is folded or adjusted.
