On certain vehicles, a manufacturing defect in the unitized hub assemblies could result in premature spalling of the front wheel bearings, which in turn could lead to eventual breakdown of the bearing, possible front wheel separation and loss of vehicle control amidst the presence of warning signals such as activation of ABS warning light, steering wheel vibration, brake drag, noise, and vehicle pull. Correction: Dealer will replace both front hub assemblies.
A failure of this component (suspension) may increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Authorized dealerships will inspect the vehicle and complete all necessary repairs free of charge (parts and labor).
On certain vehicles, additional axles were installed to increase the gross vehicle weight capacity but the parking brake capacity was not increased accordingly therefore not complying with CMVSS 121 regulations. Correction: The dealer will perform repairs as necessary.
A failure of this component (brakes) may increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Authorized dealerships will inspect the vehicle and complete all necessary repairs free of charge (parts and labor).
Certain heavy-duty trucks equipped with TRW 20-EDL Ball Sockets were manufactured with a case depth and/or hardness that were below specifications. A bearing that is below specification may prematurely wear-out the ball socket, which, in turn, may lead to a separation of the tie rod. Correction: Dealers will replace the tie rods.
A failure of this component (steering) may increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Authorized dealerships will inspect the vehicle and complete all necessary repairs free of charge (parts and labor).
Certain heavy-duty trucks equipped with TRW tie rod ends on certain Meritor axles. The tie rod and drag link ball stud ends contain bearings that are below the specified case depth and/or hardness. This can lead to premature wear with possible separation of the ball stud from the socket, increasing the risk of loss of control of the vehicle. Correction: Dealers will remove and replace all affected tie rods and drag links with different designed ends. Trucks that have been repaired under recall 00v246103/SC0262 will not be re-recalled. Trucks only inspected and determined to have an acceptable date code under SC0262 will be recalled under this campaign.

Certain heavy-duty trucks equipped with drag link assemblies containing 24-DL model ball sockets and manufactured by TRW. Certain of the tie rod ball-socket bearings have a below-specification case depth and/or hardness, which can lead to premature wear of the socket. If this condition occurs, the driver can lose partial control of the right front wheel, possibly resulting in a crash. Correction: Dealers will replace the defective drag links.

On certain vehicles, the TRW tie rod ball stud ends contain bearings that are below the specified case depth and/or hardness. This can lead to premature wear out and a possible separation of the ball stud from the socket and loss of steering control. Correction: All affected tie rods will be replaced.
A failure of this component (steering) may increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Authorized dealerships will inspect the vehicle and complete all necessary repairs free of charge (parts and labor).
On certain vehicles, the return springs on the accelerator pedals are made of stainless steel or electroplated music wire. The design fatigue stress of the stainless steel springs is in a range that would predict that some failures would occur. The music wire springs can fail due to stress risers created by electrical arcing during electroplating. Correction: Accelerator pedals will be replaced with ones equipped with return springs manufactured of music wire with one additional coil on each spring and with an organic coating, eliminating electroplating.
A failure of this component (engine) may increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Authorized dealerships will inspect the vehicle and complete all necessary repairs free of charge (parts and labor).
