In certain application the load on the axle could allow stress cracks to form which, over time, may cause the axle beam to fail. This could result in a vehicle crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the axle beam. Note: This campaign also covers MR and LE vehicles previously repaired under recall 2009199 (Mack SC0341).

On certain vehicles, the bolts attaching the fuel tank mounting brackets to the frame may have insufficient torque and therefore may result in premature failure of the fuel tank mounting. Fuel tank mounting bolt failure could allow the tank to separate from the vehicle and leak which, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire. Correction: Dealers will replace the fuel tank mounting bolts.

On certain vehicles, the rear suspension transverse beam castings were not made to specifications. If a casting were to break when the vehicle is in motion, parts could become projectiles with potential to cause property damage, personal injury or death. Also, the transverse beam may drop down low enough to contact the road surface causing sparks that could ignite a fire. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the transverse beams.
