On certain coaches equipped with a wheelchair lift system, a malfunction of the door latches would allow the upper wheelchair door to open. Should this occur while the vehicle is under way, the open door would leave passengers at risk of falling from the vehicle, which could cause personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will install an audible alarm in the driver's area to provide additional alert in the event the door is not fully closed and latched. The upper latch will also be reinforced to improve its durability.

Certain coaches, previously repaired under recall 2003251, may suffer tag axle swing arm failure. Inadequate welding process may have introduced microfractures and/or welds with insufficient penetration. As a result, tag axle swing arm cracks can spread and result in a partial or total separation of the tag axle assembly, causing a vehicle crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the tag axle swing arm with an updated version. Note: This action supersedes recall 2006353.

On certain motor coaches, insufficient weld and/or weld penetration could result in stress and fatigue cracks at a weld joining a gusset support from the front bogie leg to the steering box mounting plate. This crack could propagate and eventually cause a loss of steering control, which could result in a vehicle crash causing injury or death. Correction: Dealers will install an additional gusset and re-weld as required.

On certain coaches equipped with Detroit Diesel 60 series engines, the turbocharger can fail, allowing lubricating oil to enter the exhaust system. This can result in an engine compartment fire, possibly resulting in personal injuries. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the Electronic Control Module (ECM) and install a barometric pressure sensor. The updated ECM calibration will detect a turbocharger wheel failure. The logic will then reduce fuel to the engine and safely shut it down to prevent a fire.

On certain vehicles, the front lower radius rod mounting bracket components may not have received sufficient weld penetration at time of manufacture. As a result and over time, these welds may begin to crack, allowing movement and potential separation of the radius rod mounting bracket. Correction: Dealers will affect repairs.

On certain vehicles, insufficient weld metal and/or weld penetration on the tag axle swing arm could lead to development of early stress and fatigue cracks at a weld joining the tag axle swing arm to the pivot spindle tube assembly. If not corrected, this crack could propagate and result in a complete separation of the tag axle from the coach. Correction: Dealer will repair or replace the swing arm assembly.
