On certain vehicles originally sold or currently registered in areas of heavy road salt usage during winter months (Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador), the bolts that attach the electric power steering assist motor to the steering gear housing may corrode and break. This could cause a loss of power steering assist. The resulting increase in steering effort could create the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the mounting bolts and apply a corrosion protection coating to the gear housing and bolts. If the bolts bolt cannot be removed, a replacement steering gear will be installed.

Certain vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 208 - Occupant Protection in Frontal Impacts. The driver and front passenger seat belt extenders may not retract as intended, which could cause the vehicle to fail to comply with the requirements of the standard and increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property in a crash. Correction: Dealers will update the software for the rear control module to correct the issue.

Certain vehicles may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. The base light in the low-beam headlamps may not have been adjusted according to specification, which may deviate from the tolerance range required by the standard. This could reduce vehicle visibility, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will check the setting of the headlamps and correct them as necessary.

On certain AMG S63 models, the engine may stall due to faulty software in the Engine Control Unit (ECU). Irregular RPM at idle could lead to unintentional engine shut-down prior to a vehicle stop. If this occurs, the driver may falsely interpret the unintentional engine shut down as part of the ECO start/stop system, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will update the ECU Software.
