On certain school buses, the anchor screw caps for the wheelchair restraint system may not have been installed properly. As a result, the tie-downs may not lock correctly and could detach in a crash. Note: This recall only affects certain school buses equipped with a Q'Straint Slide N' Click wheelchair restraint system.

Micro Bird will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions for how to inspect and, if necessary, secure the anchor screw caps for the wheelchair restraint system. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the repairs performed at a Micro Bird dealership.
On certain school buses, the exterior handle for the rear emergency door may not be strong enough. As a result, the handle could break and cause the emergency door not to be able to be opened from the outside.
A door that can't be opened could slow your exit from the bus in an emergency. This could also delay emergency responders from entering the bus. Both issues could increase the risk of injury.
Micro Bird will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your school bus to a dealership to replace the rear emergency door exterior handle.
On certain school buses, the power cable for the air conditioning control board may have a loose connection. As a result, the circuit board could overheat and melt.
A circuit board that overheats could create the risk of a fire.

On certain school buses, an unused wiring harness located in the B-pillar area could become damaged. If this happens, the wires could short circuit. Note: This recall only affects school buses built on a General Motors chassis.

On certain school buses, the service door may not be adjusted correctly. As a result, the door panels may get stuck when the emergency release handle is used, or may not open when force is applied to the door. Additionally, the exterior emergency release handle may not allow the service door to be opened from outside of the bus.
A door that cannot be opened could delay exiting the bus in an emergency. This could also delay emergency response. Both of these issues could increase the risk of injury.
Micro Bird will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your bus to a dealer to adjust the service door. Alternatively, Micro Bird will provide owners instructions on how to correctly adjust the service door.
On certain school vehicles, wires and/or connectors located in the wall behind the driver's seat may have been damaged during the assembly process. Also, metal shavings could have fallen into an electrical connector. Damaged wires or connectors could cause lights and accessories not to work properly, or could create a short circuit.
A short circuit could create the risk of a fire.

On certain school buses, the passenger shoulder belt anchorage plate(s) may not be attached correctly. In the event of a crash, the belt anchorage plate may become partially or totally detached, reducing the capacity of the shoulder belt to retain the passenger, resulting in an increased risk of injury or fatality. Correction: Dealers will inspect, and if necessary, re-install the shoulder belt anchorage plate using the correct procedure.

Certain school buses may fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 222 - School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection. The thickness of the foam in the knee impact area of the lower seatback is insufficient, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Correction: Dealers will modify the seat to meet the requirements of the standard.

Certain school buses built on a Ford or GM chassis may fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 220 – Rollover Protection. The downward vertical movement of the roof structure of the vehicle may be higher than the requirements of the standard, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a rollover. Correction: Dealers will add a reinforcement plate to the front structure to meet the requirements of the standard.

On certain school buses built on a Ford chassis, wheel alignment adjustment bolts may not have been sufficiently tightened at time of assembly. This could allow suspension and steering components to loosen, potentially resulting in separation, which could affect vehicle handling and steering and result in crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Owners will be given instructions on how to have the bolt tightening torque inspected.

On certain school buses, bolts securing the battery box to the bus body may be missing, causing the number of fasteners securing the battery box to be inadequate. In addition, battery terminal shields were also omitted, contributing to corrosion. This could result in the battery box separating from the vehicle and increase the risk of a fire and/or crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace corroded components, add shields and replace missing bolts.

Certain school buses may not comply with Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS 302) – Flammability of Interior Materials. Certain school bus seat bottom assemblies may contain a foam core that does not meet the requirements of the standard. As a result the seat components could burn faster than allowable by the standard, which could increase the risk of injury in the event of a fire. Correction: Dealers will replace the seat bottom assembly.
