On certain vehicles equipped with Caterpillar 3406E engines, there is the potential for chafing between Peterbilt engine wiring and Caterpillar fuel lines near the fuel filter housing on the left side of the engine. This chafing condition can cause a fire without prior warning. Correction: Engine wiring and fuel lines will be inspected and repaired or replaced as necessary.

NOTE: INCLUDES 1996-98 T2000 AND ALL OTHER 1996-97 KENWORTH MODELS EQUIPPED WITH CATERPILLAR 3406E ENGINES. THE ROUTING OF THE ELECTRICAL AND FUEL LINES IN THE REFERENCED ENGINES CAN CAUSE RUBBING OF THE ENGINE/ALTERNATOR HARNESS ON THE FUEL LINE AND CAN RESULT IN AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. CORRECTION: VEHICLES WILL BE INSPECTED AND, WHERE THERE IS EVIDENCE OF WEAR DUE TO RUBBING BETWEEN THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS AND FUEL LINES, THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS AND/OR FUEL LINES WILL BE REPLACED AND ROUTED CORRECTLY.
