On certain school buses, the stem which joins the outside emergency door handle to the emergency door opening mechanism may potentially corrode. Excessive material loss of the stem due to corrosion could result in the outside handle separating from the door mechanism while trying to open the door from the exterior of the bus. In the event of an emergency, this could delay evacuation of the vehicle and increase the risk of injury to occupants. Correction: Dealers will inspect the stems and either replace or protect them against further corrosion.

On certain school buses, the rear emergency exit exterior door handle may be severely weakened over time by corrosion. Correction: Dealers will replace the aluminium handles with more robust versions.

On certain buses, the Type II auto reset circuit breaker temperatures may exceed the rating of the circuit board. This could cause the board to melt, potentially resulting in a vehicle fire. Correction: Dealers will replace the auto reset circuit breakers with manual circuit breakers and jumper cables.

Certain school buses equipped, at customer request, with passenger seatbelts, may suffer seatbelt failure. The edge of the metal seatbelt retainer strips may cause chafe damage to the belts. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if chafe damage is found, replace seatbelt assemblies. Seatbelt retainer strips will either be replaced or modified to prevent future chafing. Note: This action is deemed a product improvement campaign and is not being conducted under the Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
