On certain vehicles equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. On certain vehicles, incorrect spindle nuts may have been installed during vehicle assembly. This could cause incorrect end play, cone spin, excessive heat, degradation of lubrication, wear of the spindle nut and bearing journal, oil contamination with metal shavings, and premature bearing failure. Continued operation could lead to wheel separation, which could result in a vehicle crash. As well, this situation creates the risk that nearby bystanders or motorists be struck by a wayward wheel assembly. Either of these concerns could cause property damage, personal injury, or death. Correction: Dealers will affect repairs.

On certain vehicles, the internal rubber check valve inside the Bendix SR-7 spring brake modulating valve can become deformed over time. The effect of this defect is intermittent and presents a potential delay or failure in applying the parking brakes; potentially resulting in a vehicle roll away. Should this occur, the unattended roll away vehicle could strike a bystander or cause property damage. Correction: Dealers will install a check valve repair kit.

On certain trucks equipped with 8,000 pound front axles, the front spindle nut may be over-tightened causing preload on the front wheel bearings which may lead to premature bearing wear. If allowed to progress, the front wheel assembly may separate from the vehicle which could result in a crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect the front wheel bearing adjustment and correct as required.

On certain vehicles, fatigue cracks can initiate in the weld joining the bracket pin to its mounting flange on the fifth wheel assembly. Weld failures could lead to the loss of the pin and the potential separation of the fifth wheel top plate from its mounting structure without warning. Correction: Dealers will replace the bracket pins.

Certain vehicles may contain a defect in the air management unit that causes the stop lamps to remain on. The pressure switch assembly (PSA) module for the low air pressure indicator and stop lamp control functions could allow water ingression that may cause the stop lamp switch to short "on". Correction: Dealer will affect repairs.

Certain trucks equipped with a 2002 Caterpillar 3126E engine and an HEP8 injection oil pump were assembled with out of specification pump components and may experience a high pressure seal failure which could result in a short period of rough running and subsequent engine stall due to loss of injection actuation pressure. Once engine stall occurs, the engine cannot be restarted. Steering boost and primary braking would be limited, secondary braking would be available. Correction: The injection pump will be replaced.

On certain vehicles, the cast output yoke on M-B transmissions may fracture on vehicles with 1610 or 16T series drivelines. After a yoke fractures, the main driveline becomes unsupported immediately behind the transmission. Correction: Dealers will replace the cast transmission output yoke with a forged part.
