On certain school buses equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. Certain vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 120 - Tire Selection and Rims. The vehicle certification label incorrectly lists tire load range "D", but instead should read load range "E". As a result, the vehicle may inadvertently be fitted with incorrect replacement tires. Overloaded tires may lead to poor vehicle handling characteristics, which could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the labels.

On certain school buses, the rear emergency exit exterior door handle may be severely weakened over time by corrosion. In the event of an emergency, a person on the outside of the bus may break the door handle trying to open the emergency exit, potentially delaying evacuation and increasing the risk of personal injury to the vehicle's occupants. Correction: Dealers will replace the aluminium handles with more robust versions.

Certain school buses equipped, at customer request, with passenger seatbelts, may suffer seatbelt failure. The edge of the metal seatbelt retainer strips may cause chafe damage to the belts. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if chafe damage is found, replace seatbelt assemblies. Seatbelt retainer strips will either be replaced or modified to prevent future chafing. Note: This action is deemed a product improvement campaign and is not being conducted under the Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
