On a small number of buses equipped with a Ricon BayLift wheelchair lift, the outer barrier of the lift may not be strong enough. As a result, when the lift is fully deployed, the barrier may not support an occupant if their mobility device or wheelchair moves against it.
A wheelchair lift barrier that is not strong enough could create the risk of an injury.
Volvo Buses will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your bus to a Prevost service center to add a side barrier support feature to affected wheelchair lifts.
On certain buses, the C1 drive hub in the transmission may fail. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the drive wheels when the bus comes to a stop. This can disable the bus and make it unable to move under its own power. Note: This recall only affects certain buses built with an Allison B500 transmission.
A bus that is disabled could create the need for a transfer of passengers in an uncontrolled environment, which may create a risk of injury.
